Passive Care
Electrical Stimulation
We offer an assortment of research-based electrical stimulation therapies, including Interferential Current (IFC) and Russian Stimulation. Electrical stimulation utilizes electrical currents to trigger motor and/or sensory nerves to offer a variety of different healing effects including:
-
Reduced and/or eliminated acute and chronic pain
-
Increased local circulation for faster healing
-
Decreased swelling
-
Improved range of motion
-
Reduced muscle spasm
-
Improved muscle coordination
-
Diminished muscle atrophy
Therapeutic Ultrasound
Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to help several different muscle, bone, and ligament conditions by increasing blood flow, reducing swelling and inflammation, promoting tissue healing by increasing cellular metabolism and preventing scar tissue formation. Common conditions therapeutic ultrasound can help with include:
-
Bursitis & Tendinitis
-
Muscle Strains & Tears
-
Rheumatoid Arthritis & Osteoarthritis
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio Tape is specialized tape that activates with body heat. Unlike traditional athletic tape, the goal of kinesio taping is to enhance blood circulation to targeted areas, thereby reducing pain and recovery time following an injury.
It can also be used for postural retraining by activating muscle groups in the neck, upper back and shoulders, and low back to maintain proper posture throughout day-to-day activities.
Many pregnant women use kinesio tape for the low back, knees and even lower abdominal muscles during the third trimester to alleviate some of the additional pressure on the body during pregnancy.
